About the Project
The series “Mazut” is dedicated to the aftermath of industrial disasters in the Black Sea and to the fragility of the natural landscape in the face of human intervention.
The project was inspired by documentary footage of volunteers cleaning the coastline from pollution and rescuing birds affected by a heavy fuel oil spill. These images became the starting point for a visual exploration of a space where natural beauty confronts the traces of ecological disaster.
In the series, a calm seascape contrasts with a sense of anxiety and the presence of pollution. The project explores the tension between the aesthetics of the image and the reality of ecological destruction, reminding us of the fragility of the environment and of human responsibility toward it.

Each Work in Detail

“To Be Saved”
2026
Limited edition of 35 prints
This work explores the image of a human figure gradually absorbed by a polluted landscape. The stillness of the sea horizon contrasts with the feeling of ecological catastrophe and the heroine’s distant gaze. Within this tension emerges the impossibility of fully separating the human figure from the consequences of human intervention.

“Discard?”
2026
Limited edition of 35 prints
The work turns to the image of white fabric swallowed by a black mass. What once evoked purity and fragility is irreversibly altered by the traces of pollution. The title poses a simple, almost everyday question: what can be discarded, replaced, or forgotten and what is lost forever?

“There Will Be Salvation”
2026
Limited edition of 35 prints
This work speaks to faith in human response in those who come to help when nature becomes vulnerable. The girl in the frame becomes an image of living nature: polluted, fragile, yet not abandoned without hope.
As long as there are people capable of responding, there will be rescue.

“The White Hand”
